The history of lighting production in Poland dates back to 1922. The production of Philips light bulbs began in Warsaw already before World War II. After the war, the plant was nationalised, but this was not the end of the history of Philips in Poland. In 1958, the Municipal Economic Planning Committee decided to create the Lumen plant in Piła. And that is how Piła became the place in Poland known for the production of light bulbs. These associations are still alive in the memories of many Poles. In 1975, the plant underwent a transformation. It was renamed Polam Piła, and a new brand, PILA, was created. After the political transformation in 1991, Philips returned to Poland after a long absence, conducting one of the first large privatisation projects. The acquisition of the plant in Piła was an opportunity for the development of the Polish lighting industry. The influx of capital and technology from the West enabled the creation of the biggest lighting production plant in that region of Europe.

The factory in Piła currently employs thousands of people who make both light sources and luminaires.

In 2018, Philips Lighting Poland changed its name to Signify Poland. The name Philips remained as a lighting brand owned by the Signify brand, which has been joined by a second brand – PILA. PILA products are an economical option for customers who appreciate the quality of the Philips brand. They have been designed by the same team of engineers as Philips products, and they undergo the same restrictive quality tests.

Below, we have provided a brief description of PILA products:
