Recall of fluorescent lamps

Amendment of the RoHS directive and ban on the market of fluorescent lamps from 2023

On February 24, 2022, an update of the RoHS Directive was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The introduced changes will have a very significant impact on the lighting market and the offer of traditional light sources. The current approvals for the use of mercury in linear fluorescent lamps and non-integrated compact fluorescent lamps will expire in 2023 and will not be renewed. This means that these products are prohibited from being placed on the European market:

  • non-integrated compact fluorescent lamps – from February 24, 2023.
  • T5 and T8 linear fluorescent lamps – from August 24, 2023.

At Signify, we declare full support in planning and fulfilling orders for fluorescent lamps before their final withdrawal. We will make every effort to provide our customers with access to optimal solutions (both in conventional and LED technology) during the transition period.
